 Carnivourism and Yoga

Q. Shiva Anna asks ; What do you think about carnivourism ? What effects eating meat has in my yoga ?

A. Masso Answers; Yoga Journal reports that majority of 16 million practicing Yoga In America do eat meat; according to YJ every reader poll and national survey that YJ has conducted shows that only %11 of people who claim to practice yoga say they are vegetarians.
In my practice, I have noticed , some of my students report stiffness of muscles and difficulty stretching after they eat meat for at least 24 hours after. Few find their dreams gain discomforting undertones and sometimes become violent. Some find no problems. It all depends on the person.
My own observations support and reflects the same views. It certainly adds to my performance pains and stiffness, especially muscular stretches. I do remember having uneasy sleep and unusual dreams for several days as well. Maybe it even effected my Karma yoga core since eating meat  is eating a complex, innocent  life form.
Ahisma, none harming or none violent principles, can greatly contribute to how we view Carnivourism.

Although some believe Ahisma is more about freedom of choice to be natural, since we need to consider ourselves part of the nature and harmonize accordingly. But how we harmonize with nature can be the underlying factor in levels of our comfort or discomfort .
